The Samsung ML-2851ND offers lightening fast speed for text printing, that too by maintaining the quality and has other key features like complete driver settings.
Cons
The Samsung ML-2851ND is comparatively expensive and the print quality is graphics really ordinary.
Introduction
The Samsung ML-2851ND is a really basic mono-laser printer with slightly enhanced features. The modernized features fitted in the printer primarily are there to lure the medium and small business owners in need of printer simply to print light graphics and text documents.
The Samsung’s ML-2851ND is priced at $330, which simply is too much asking for a monochrome printer, especially when it is not even wireless, also the Dell 1720 monolaser which has got the same feature set can easily be obtained for $30 less. Still Samsung’s ML-2851ND offers high quality prints at brisk pace, and if those are your primary requirements then Samsung ML-2851ND is a nice option any day.

Design
There actually isn’t much to talk about Samsung ML-2851ND as far as its design is concerned. The printer looks almost identical to any monolaser printer you would have seen in market and even if not identical in one way or the other it will remind you of some other printer.
The ML-2851ND measures 8.3 x 14.3 x 14.5 (H x W x D) inches, and weighs around 26.2 pounds. Positioned at the top of the printer is one big power button along with one of the two LCD’s displaying the print and power status for the printer. The input tray for the printer has been fitted at the bottom and has the capacity to hold 250 standard sheets of paper; Samsung also offers the option to purchase an extra 250-sheet if you want, as an accessory. There also is an additional tray given at the front side of ML-2851ND for special single sheet feeds, but then again the Samsung ML-2851ND is just another basic printer and hence there aren’t any whistles or bells except a fitted duplexer for printing double sided paper sheets.
The printer can be connected to the printer either using a USB 2.0 cable or by means of a wireless router, but it should be noted that USB cable is not included in the bundle. Connecting the printer to your system is a straightforward process and is as simple as installing driver on your host computer and then just linking the Ethernet cable from the printer to your router. The entire process will hardly take 10 minutes or so.

Performance
Though, there might not be lot to look or talk about Samsung ML-2851ND, but when it comes to performing the printer is simply awesome and leaves everybody stunned. Not many times we see a printer printing, text, PowerPoint presentations and graphics at the same speed, but the ML-2851 did it and did it well. Yes the Samsung ML-2851ND printed graphics, PowerPoint presentations and text at the speed of 20 pages per minute all through our tests and came second after Lexmark E350d in all the printing test categories. Even the gap between the two was very narrow.
The print quality was also impressive; especially the text print quality was really well. The only time we found shortcomings in the print quality was when we printed the mono graphics page, but that too wasn’t serious. So overall the print quality for the printer was acceptable.
Support
The Samsung ML 2851ND comes with limited one year warranty from Samsung and toll-free technical support. There also is Samsung’s online Support Center where you can get an FAQ, software downloads such as manuals, drivers and firmware updates and a how-to guide.
