HP Officejet 6000 Review – Immense Single-Function Printer
HP — On March 23, 2010 | Leave a ReplyPros
HP Officejet 6000 is comparatively faster than its rivals and offers respectable print quality for photos and text and is a network ready printer.
Cons
Absence of USB cord and LCD are two noticeable flaws in HP Officejet 6000. Especially the absence of LCD makes it hard to troubleshoot.
Introduction
HP Officejet 6000 is the latest offering from HP in the single-function inkjet printer class. The HP Officejet 6000 doesn’t posses the flashy features of the other prominent all-in-one printers, but it makes it up for its lack of feature with its respectable print speed and print quality for text and photos both.
Printing 0.46 full color photos per minute the HP Officejet 6000 makes its capability clear to the market, but still there are some vital features missing from the printer. Some crucial feature that we found was missing includes LCD screen, USB cord and the media card reader. Some of the people might buy Officejet 6000 for its affordable cost of $90, but if you look around you can get a lot more office functionality in merely $20 more in the form of Canon Pixma MX330, it’s a multifunction printer that features copier, a built-in fax machine, color LCD, an auto-document feeder and a scanner. So if you want maximum features for the amount you spend then go for the Canon, but if all that you care about is a fast printer then you definitely won’t be disappointed with HP Officejet 6000.

Design
The design exactly isn’t the forte of HP Officejet 6000 and you won’t find anything exceptional going on there. Just as most of the OfficeJet printers it also has got the lusterless light brown and black color scheme to match the environment of any office. Also being a single-function printer it doesn’t takes much space on your desk and measuring about 18.03 by 15.31 by 6.45 inches (L x W x H) and weighing around 10.56 pounds the HP OfficeJet easily fits into any office or home cabinet. The printer easily could’ve been a bit lighter, but the fixed output tray that juts from the bottom demands a little extra space on the desk and at the same time increases a little weight for the printer. One huge thing about this printer is that in comparison to some all-in-one and most of the single-function printers that stores 100 papers in their tray, the 6000 can store up to 250 plain sheets of paper.
The output prints are collected on a removable paper tray that is installed on top of the finished prints in their way out. As the OfficeJet 6000 doesn’t have USB slot and media card reader it can’t be operated without external control from the host computer. Also the omission of USB cord is frustrating. HP Officejet 6000 use 920 series ink cartridges from HP.

Performance
The results for HP Officejet 6000 in our several speed tests were really astounding and the 6000 really outdid the rivalry by a huge margin in tests for both graphics and photo speeds. We particularly were intimidated with its ability to print 3.54 pages of the color graphics document per minute that we gave it to in our test, because the next to 6000 printer was substantially slower and printed 1.79 pages per minute. As a matter of fact the only test in which 6000 didn’t come first was text speed test in which the Lexmark Z2420 outdid it with its 11.13 pages per minute. But HP managed to grab second position with admirable 7.38 pages of text per minute.
Apart from the super speed, the print quality is what impressed us most about the OfficeJet 6000 and we were really pleased to see that HP has continued its tradition of delivering immense print quality. The HP’s claim that HP Officejet 6000 can generate near “laser-quality” text seemed pretty true.

HP Officejet 6000 printer is backed with a customary part-and-labor one-year warranty. Word from the Experts
The simplicity of HP Officejet 6000 single function inkjet printer is really imposing. The print quality matches the high standards set by HP, and despite maintaining the quality the speed hasn’t be compromised and it prints immense quality color photos at a remarkable rate. Though, the absence of an LCD screen and USB port might take sometime to get use to it. On a whole the HP OfficeJet 6000 is an immense single-function printer and we recommend it to our readers.
