Brother DCP-7060D – Impressive and Affordable
Brother DCP-7060D – Impressive and Affordable
DCP-7060D that we are reviewing here is a ‘multifunction printer', which delivers white and black laser printer and also has a color copier and scanner. The Brother DCP-7060D is the successor of the DCP-7055 from the same manufacturer, this printer has been fitted with certain tweaks. The shape and size of the printer is pretty much the same, though we had our review unit in black rather than the comparatively low priced model's off-white. The copier and scanner here are the same that we saw in its precursor, but the printer section here is a tad different and here its a lot quick and more efficient than the DCP-7055's. Just as with its precursor, the Brother DCP-7060D comes with a 250-sheet of paper feed tray, which is fitted at the bottom. The output tray for the  [...]

Brother HL-3040CN – Affordable Yet Potent
Brother HL-3040CN – Affordable Yet Potent
In general a low price tag of a printer is considered as a compromise in print quality or overall compromise, but this is not the case with Brother HL-3040CN, and hence don’t get deceived by the small price tag of the printer. The Brother HL-3040CN might be a low-end color laser-like LED printer, but it delivers respectably fast performance and decent print quality that makes it perfect for small and midsize offices that have light printing needs. Though, make sure that you don’t use this printer for photo printing or for anything that requires immensely high quality prints. Also the size of the Brother HL-3040CN in comparison to other printers of its class is a tad bigger and hence you’ll have to clear some desk space for accommodating the printer. The paper tray  [...]

Brother HL-4040cn – Convincing Color Laser Printer
Brother HL-4040cn – Convincing Color Laser Printer
The Brother HL-4040cn is a reasonably priced single-function laser printer intended for small work groups and offices. Priced at $400 the HL-4040cn is a network ready printer that offers some really handy features, like secure print and reprint. In addition to all this the printer delivers really great quality print as well. The negative point of the printer is its slow print speeds in comparison to the competition. But still we think that the printer has more positives than negatives. On a whole the HL-4040cn is a commercial printer ideally suited for small work groups and offices with really moderate printing needs. Design The Brother HL-4040cn is a standard-looking boxy color laser printer. The printer comes in navy-and-gray color combination and measures  [...]

Brother MFC-9440CN – An Inspiring Blend Of High-Quality And Fast Speeds
Brother MFC-9440CN – An Inspiring Blend Of High-Quality And Fast Speeds
The Brother MFC-9440CN is a superb color laser multi-function printer for the small work groups and offices. The MFC-9440CN is fast, delivers great quality scan/prints and the huge feature set for the printer are admirable. But it’s not without its share of flaws, but most of the shortcomings that we found for this printer are pretty small. The fact that the MFC-9440CN carries out all the functions it is assigned pretty well puts the printer ahead of the Xerox Phaser 6115MFP and the Lexmark X502n, in our list of preferred standard office printers. If you are looking for enormously high quality prints, then you can go for the HP Color LaserJet CM1017. Though, you have to bear its slow print speeds, but this is not the case with MFC-9440CN and even though the quality is not that high, but  [...]

Oki B2520 MFP – Not Expected Laser Multifunction Printer
Oki B2520 MFP – Not Expected Laser Multifunction Printer
At first glance the Oki B2520 MFP seems like a convincing package, delivering all the essential features that you can associate with a multifunction laser printer like print, scan fax and copy and all that at surprising low prices. Although, don’t get lured by the promises made here or what impression this printer give to you, this is because the user interface of the printer is really clunky, the user guide for the system is confusing, the print speeds are slow, and scan and print quality delivered by the system are really disappointing. Although, we must mention the fact that the Oki B2520 MFP priced at $320 does have some interesting features like a QWERTY keyboard and mailboxes, for small offices. But at the same time the printer is not network-ready that means if  [...]

Brother MFC-685cw – Decent Features, But No Performance
Brother MFC-685cw – Decent Features, But No Performance
The Brother MFC-685CW is a rather cheap multifunction printer which brings plenty of features in comparatively small space. But the bad thing here is that in approach to jam plenty of features in a small space the print quality and print speed delivered by the printer gets a blow and limits up to being average only. The MFC-685cw is the ideal printer for only those who wants nothing but maximum functionality in their printer and are really short on space. If you also are one of such consumers then the Brother MFC-685CW is just what you have been looking all through your life. One another decent option for you is the Canon Pixma MX700. It won’t give you the advanced fax feature, but you definitely will get decent print quality and fast prints which works in a specialized capacity. Design The  [...]

Brother HL-2170W – Cost Effective Text Printer
Brother HL-2170W – Cost Effective Text Printer
The Brother HL-2170W is a monochrome laser printer and feasible alternative modern inkjet printers in the market. The printer might have a low initial cost, but with the fact that the modern photo, tricolor, and high capacity ink cartridge for the printer can cost anything between $20 to $100 per refill, the running cost of the printer could easily be equal to that of owning an inkjet. And to cut this short you can also buy a printer with an inexpensive black and white laser printer. Although the Brother HL-2170W has got its own set of flaws like the print quality offered by the printer is really crippling, but then the printer makes up for it with its brisk print speed for text documents and the 802.11b/g wireless functionality just for $150. The HL-2170W is a nice choice as a text only  [...]

Brother MFC 7440N – Fast, But Boring
Brother MFC 7440N – Fast, But Boring
Generally we don’t see too many multifunction laser printers doing the task, and the reason behind this is that the inkjet printers offer clearly high quality print, photos and scan. But the printer industry started marketing the laser multifunction printers claiming of offering better quality at significantly improved speeds. But with the Brother MFC 7440N we found only the latter one to be true and as far as the print quality is concerned it’s not true. Priced at $250 the Brother MFC-7440N has  got all the trappings of a multifunctional printer including the optical character identification scanning, one-touch fax, an auto-feeding copier and customizable presets, but still its better to go for an inkjet multifunction rather than the Brother MFC-7440N for color scans and printing presentations. Design The  [...]

Brother MFC-5890CN – Comprehensively Disappointing
Brother MFC-5890CN – Comprehensively Disappointing
The only thing that came to our mind in our first encounter with Brother MFC-5890CN was handful of questions regarding the development of this printer. We were surprised to see its awkward design and still it got launched. But there was even more to surprise us and the next in our list was its price, despite being an eyesore this thing was surprisingly priced high. And lastly were its features, which made us think that may be this printer wasn’t tested before launch! All these thoughts brought us to the conclusion that Brother MFC-5890CN all-in-one scanner/printer/copier/fax/ is nothing more than a disappointment and we are unremorsefully dissatisfied with it. You might get deceived by the 3.3 inch LCD screen, but remember that a screen is nothing without a decent machine behind it. So  [...]

Brother MFC-490CW Review – Improved, But Not Completely
Brother MFC-490CW Review – Improved, But Not Completely
After getting disappointed by the Brother MFC-5890CN and giving it a not-so-great review, we weren’t very much excited about the arrival of the step-down model Brother MFC-490CW. We thought of it as yet another unstylish device flooding with mechanical imperfections and inapt for any environment where productivity is the key. But all our thoughts were shaken by Brother MFC-490CW and we found it way ahead of what it expected it to be, and in fact just as we thought it wouldn’t be. The Brother MFC-490CW priced at $130 is a much better printer than its cousin. With its high quality prints, higher-quality prints, a wider 3.3 inch LCD screen for scrolling through menus and light photo editing, and a low print cost, puts it in the league of HP Officejet J4680 and Canon Pixma  [...]

Brother DCP 165C – Nothing More Than Disappointment
Brother DCP 165C – Nothing More Than Disappointment
Brother DCP-165C is the reason why people started believing in bad printers. In our labs during our testing on Brother DCP-165C, we faced so many hiccups that we were left shaking our heads in despise. It was everything you can imagine and be it the hardware malfunctioning or the poor output quality, the things to upset was really in abundance in Brother DCP-165C. Though, the budget buyer might cheer a little after seeing the price tag of $80, but will regret it later as they saw the print quality of their printed documents. But the most interesting thing is that even to produce poor quality output, the printer takes all the time in the world and you will have to wait a little before you get disappointed with it. We urge that you stay away from DCP-165C and even if you want  [...]
